Thank the HEAVENS I made it up to myself by finding this little treasure at the local Goodwill.
And it was marked down from its original price!
Of course, it was not without its "issues". It was cracking and peeling in a few places.
I spray-painted my new best friend with Rustoleum's Heirloom White. Gosh I love that color.
And it became gorgeous!
But it still had its damage. And the second the chair came home Annalise believed it was a special jungle gym made just for her, so I didn't want her to scrape herself on it. I didn't know what to do other than cover it up!
So I bought some foam. (Funny story: I bought the foam at Joann's. The checker went to charge me. I noticed she hadn't taken the coupon I had laid on the counter. "Oh, did I get my discount?" I asked her. "Whoopsie," she said, looking at the receipt she was about to hand me. "I was supposed to take 50% off. Instead I just charged you $.50. My mistake. Here you go!" YIPPEE!) I took the chair apart and traced the seat onto the foam.
I used my electric knife to cut a smooth edge along the lines.
Then I glued them together. Perfect fit!
Using my staple gun, I covered it with this gorgeous fabric from Joann's. I love the sweet vintage-y look of it.
I also love that it's pink and so feminine but not so bold as to be distracting in pictures.
All done!!
Bear in mind that I had no idea what I was doing and made it up as I went along. But the important thing is: the little lady approves. :)

ReplyDeleteI totally have sheets with that exact (or strangely close to) print! Loooove it.
ReplyDeleteThat chair. Oh, that chair.

Aww...that is SO cute! I love it! Looks like the little one loves it too...perfect size for her! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute and I like how you addressed the peeling up issue! Love the fabric and I'll bet your daughter gets a lot of enjoyment out of it. I was lucky enough to find 4 child size Windsor chairs and a round table. Once I clean and sand a bit they are getting a coat of Heirloom White, too. Isn't that a great white?
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! I love your blog. I'm new at blogging, my daughter got me started to show off my jewelry and stuff. And I love a great bargain find as well but yeah, when you see something and you wait & then go back to get it, it's usually gone. I've learned that many a time. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute and so is that model! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little chair. I love the fabric you used. I don't know what it is about JoAnn's, but they mess up with the pricing and receipts almost every time I go in there. At least your sales person sounded nice. I usually get the teenagers who argue with me and expect me just to pay for their mistakes.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your daughter in the chair is preccious!
Wow - a great makeover !
ReplyDeleteYou made that chair so pretty! I am looking for a small chair as well for my daughter's little desk-hope I luck up like you did at Goodwill!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL makeover! The bottom picture with your little girl is adorable :) Thanks for linking up another fun project to Thrilling Thursday @ Paisley Passions.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job...I brought home a similar chair and my husband said, Not again! Can't we just buy something new?
