What I was especially cognizant of was that I didn't just want to type regular text over the digital burlap background, since that wouldn't look realistic at all. I wanted a type-writer-looking font that looked distressed and shabby, the way text would really look if you printed it on such a coarse surface. And I struck gold. Seriously, how great is this text?! It's perfect!
Funny side-note: As I went to Domestically Speaking's website to get the link to give her credit, I found that she had created another burlap sign, this time with the definition of Thanksgiving, the same as I had! Great minds think alike!!

ReplyDeleteJessica I love your blog! Thanks so much for the printables! Is there a way that I can print these maybe in 5x7 of 4x6 for a smaller frame to put on my mantle! They would look awesome as a grouping on my mantle! Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThe digital burlap is part of the printable. To download it, click on the image of it (the last image in the post) and it will take you to another screen. Click the image again and it will become so big it can't all fit on the screen. Then right-click on it and save it to your computer and it's yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog. Thank you so much for sharing with us all! Very generous. Where do you find your burlap? I would love to make a sign. Thanks. alysawhitlock@yahoo.com

Oh Sheesh ... I'm sucker for burlap and printing. This just got added to my "I'm officially done with THanksgiving projects list ... hmmm." Love it!
ReplyDeleteIn response to printing these images smaller, you definitely can, but as they are designed as 8 X 10 inch documents, the ratio wouldn't be the same for a 4X6 or a 5X7 frame. I do sell custom printables so I would be happy to recreate any of these designs for you in smaller sizes ($10 per print) or another idea is to take this printable, print it even smaller than the frame you want to put it in, and "mat" it (as in, glue it on top of) with a coordinating scrapbook paper that you can trim to the exact size of your frame. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the cutest things I've ever seen. How clever!
ReplyDeleteJessica-

Thanks so much. My sister-in-law is having the family over for Thanksgiving dinner, and this framed print is going to be my gift for the hostess!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!!
This was a burlap background that I already had, and I tweaked it in Photoshop to make it a prettier color. It was kind of dark and ugly when I started with it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great project~ thanks for sharing the image!
ReplyDeleteI love the name of your blog and this project. Thanks for sharing the artwork. I can't wait to print and frame it!

Just came over from Domestically Speaking and love your site! I am going to print this next time I have a free coupon for an 8x10 somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI am new to all of this - saw your post on the lady's site who printed it on real burlap but i am afraid to run burlap through my printer. How did yo do yours?
ReplyDeleteIt is just a digital image that you can print out, so it looks like burlap but is not burlap at all! :)
ReplyDeleteI was trying to get to the digital image of the thanksgiving definition print, but for some reason it is not opening. Have you removed the free printable option, or is the issue with me :)
ReplyDeleteI printed out the Thanksgiving Defination. but I would like it with no background so I can print it on Burlap. I tried to type it in word, but could not get it to fit, any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi! Are you still selling these prints? The link to your Etsy shop isn't working.
ReplyDeleteI too clicked on the link to your Etsy shop, but it's not working. Is there another way to get a printable of the Thanksgiving "burlap" print?
ReplyDeleteHi! I'd like to buy this, but the link isn't working.
ReplyDeleteFrame Looking so adorable....love the font, thoughts you choose to made it more precious and wonderful. Inside the frame paper look like jute used in making handicrafts. Can you suggest me that printer who done this fabulous job of font printing.
